North Queensland Australia is one of the most diverse and beautiful examples of Mother Natures work in the world. This ecologically unique rainforest is home to the most extensive range of rare plants and animals on earth, and all are found within an area of approximately 1200 square kilometers – the largest chunk of protected tropical rainforest in Australia.

We suggest starting with a trip up to Kuranda on the 7.5km Skyrail Gondala Cableway, it takes you up and over a peice of this World Heritage Listed Rainforest, with platform stops along the way, so hop on hop off, to take time admire or simply soak up the smell of the rainforest, at the end of the journey you will visit the little market town of Kuranda, have a browse around Kuranda with a light lunch before catching the Kuranda Scenic Railway which is now classed as one of the best train journeys in the world provides a historic, scenic journey between Kuranda ‘The Village in the Rainforest’ and Cairns, traversing the mountanous walls of the Barron Gorge National Park, through hand carved solid granit rock tunnels and past tumbling rainforest waterfalls.

Skyrail Gondola Cableway Rainforest Day Tour

Cairns Skyrail cableway day tour takes you on an amazing gondola experience over World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforest in comfortable all weather cable cars. Enjoy birds-eye views as you glide just metres over the canopy, before exploring the forest floor and learning more and stopping at two rainforest mid-stations.

Complimentary Ranger guided boardwalk tours are available at Red Peak station whilst at Barron Falls station, a visit to the Skyrail CSIRO Rainforest Interpretation Centre is a definate must. Take in the spectacular views of the waterfall from three lookout platforms, each offering a different vantage point.  Make sure you book the upgrade to Diamond View (glass floor) experience for that extra thrill ride and more spectacular view of the tropical rainforest canopy.

The following day why not take a drive or Tour up to Cape Tribulation.

The Daintree Cape Tribulation rainforest is a World Heritage Listed area and contains the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened with near extinction, anywhere in the world. The Daintree Cape Tribulation Rainforest is a unique area, precariously balanced between the advances of development and the warnings of environmentalists.

Just whatever you do do not miss a chance to see the oldest and most precious of rainforests left in the world. Sir David Attenborough says it is a   world wide treasure that needs to be protected at all costs.

The Cannon Park Motel is an ideal location to use as a base for the above adventures, we can advise, suggest, arrange some beautiful tours or show you the way if you prefer to drive into and or up to and through some beautiful parts of the Rainforest.
